How do I decorate this awkward space?

This nook is in our kitchen. It’s right next to our patio door. We already have a kitchen table. Also in the space behind the nook is a fireplace, and a built in bookshelf.
The area where the high chairs will be decorated with a built in white or black hutch (I’m leaning towards black since our island is black and there is soooo much white with the shutters and all).
The dark cabinet present already is a very cheap bar cabinet. I am planning to replace it with a medium wood one I saw at Pottery Barn.
Should I put two arm chairs and a little table and rug in this spot? Or should I revamp this space completely???

Do you go in and out of this door frequently? Maybe a bench with storage for shoes?

It's a good place for kids to play kitchen while you are working there. Not every space has to have something in it. A cabinet can store toys when not in use.

I would remove the cabinet and not put another in its place (maybe a tall plant instead); different artwork to coordinate with the dining space; and, agree that a bench would look great in front of the windows and it will be functional, too.

A rug under the table (with coordinating runner in front of the bench) and roman blinds in the eating nook would tie the whole space together well...
