Is that cabinet door a gray? It's too muted for my taste. Find something crisp.

I love walnut and white kitchens but I like slab doors and thar combo works best with a contemporary style. Maybe some more info as to your style. With all the angles I am assuming you are leaning toward contemporary. What is your flooring? You could also do all white with a walnut island counter. Do you have the plan already to go? What does your KD think. Please do not let your architect design your kitchen.

I just finished installing two all black kitchens and all I can say is be prepared to see EVERYTHING! Any imperfections in the paint will be highlighted once you turn on the recessed lighting. One kitchen was custom cabinetry and the other was an import - expect maintenance either way you go.

I also just finished an all white kitchen - again, custom cabinets, and when I could I had extended stiles to keep vertical seams to a minimum. However, same complaints - white shows everything!

Another fabulous kitchen that I did this past summer was complete custom with a lot of structural details, straight in-set in Alabaster with an Alder stained island - my personal favorite.

Of course I'm just talking color combinations - the style of your house I suspect you'll lean more towards the Shaker door/full overlay or frameless - this particular client had a very traditional style home and preferred the inset style of construction. I also think if you were to choose white or soft white and kept the black to the island only you would achieve the look you seem to be leaning towards.
