Bathroom Photos

I was wondering if this is a job that can be done ourselves or if hiring a professional would be more necessary. Also not sure if this is something we might even have to hire a carpenter for.

The bathroom was done over in the early 2000s but the ceiling is original from when the house was built in 1965. If you look at the pictures you can see there is some cracking and what looks like “bubbling” in some areas on the ceiling. Not sure if we should get the ceiling redone entirely.

The fan doesn’t really work well either so not sure if we should get a dehumidifier or if we should have an HVAC pro come out to take a look.

Any help would be super appreciated!

TLDR: should we hire a pro or DIY?
