Ours is all done by one company. The cable, post and handrail. Off the top of my head cant recall the name. I wanted vertical cable so my grandkids couldn’t climb on it. Let me know if you want the brand. I’ll look it up.

I like the design in the photo you included with your question.

1. Attaching the posts to the side of the balcony places the posts and other parts outside the balcony footprint, maximizing usable space.
2. The bolts and are not visible from inside the balcony providing a clean look when viewed from within balcony. The bases of the posts in IloveRed's photo are, in contrast, fussy.
3. Attaching the posts to the side may be stronger than attaching them to the top which might require some kind of bracket.

Horizontal infill at guardrails was forbidden in the 2000 IRC for child safety reasons but it was removed a year later and has not appeared in subsequent IRC code editions.

Thru-bolts are the best connection for posts but MasterFastener's FlatLOK or LedgerLOK screws are good too.
