Tile making noise

last month
last modified: last month

Recently my four year old tile has started making noise when I step on it. It’s not a crunchy sound, it’s more like a “thud”. it’s not always making the sound, and only one piece of tile is making noise. There’s no cracks in tile or grout, looks perfect.

Only thing I did was about half year ago when where the tile meets the wall, the grout had come off so I added a little so it didn’t look bad.

What is causing this noise? I‘m not sure what’s under the tile, plywood or cement.

Could I have caused it, when adding grout to the wall side? Maybe i added too much and there wasn’t space for the tile to expand or contract?

Could it be the low humidity - around 25- 30% indoors?

Thank you!
