Next Chapter in Bathroom Reno Saga: Grungy Floor Grout

It may be hard to tell from these photos, but the grout between the new floor tiles is grungy-looking and has been this way pretty much from the get-go. I thought at first that the problem was insufficient grout, and so the tiler said he added grout. It still looks like more is needed in places, but I wonder now if there’s something about the creamy color? I’ve had pure white grout and it didn’t look like this. I tried spraying bleach in some places to see if it helped, and it didn’t really seem to. What to do? Changing the tile isn’t an option.

You can try a grout colorant.

Aquamix Grout Colorant is an epoxy latex type, it can be tedious to apply. But being an epoxy matrix, it's a bit more impervious to staining and the color is consistent throughout.

I'd try the Aquamix before tackling a full removal and replacement of the grout.

Would it still be cream colored? Or would the point be to darken it?

Grout colorants come in several colors. You can keep it the same, or change it. Your choice. With your grout joints not being consistent, I'd recommend staying with a color close to the tile. The closer you stay to the color of the existing tile, the more the grout lines will visually recede and blend with the tile.

This dirty looking grout issue is actually a floor tile problem (the discolored grout joints is a wall tile issue) but your point is well taken.
