Help! I need some dining/kitchen/ living room revamp on a budget

First off, I don't have the budget to renovate so there will be no knocking off walls here. I just want a more updated look on the interior by putting better furnishing on a more suitable place and updating the color of the wall. I am thinking if I can still put a kitchen island and/or a breakfast nook instead of a dining table. Any suggestions?

What furniture do you want to replace? How about draperies? Light fixtures?

You don't want to change the existing kitchen cupboards, correct? You can seat 6 at your table. If you want to replace it, how many do you want to seat?

Your photos are a bit out of focus and don't enlarge when I click on them. If you want to change the living room, please show pictures of all the walls. How many seats do you want in the living room?

    Approximately what is your budget?

It would be helpful if you put some ideas of rooms that you like in your idea books, so we know what style you are moving towards.

Your love seat and dining table look attractive and quite neutral, so not sure that changing those will be necessary unless you are going in a totally different style direction. Lighting, wall decor and draperies are giving you a dated look more than your larger furniture pieces, which is good news for your budget. Paint color is always chosen last.

I don't think a breakfast nook will work, if by that you mean bench seating along the 2 walls, and a table in between. Your windows and your baseboard heating will interfere with any bench seating. Although we can't see your window height because of the curtains.

An island will look odd because it will be quite far away from your kitchen, and separated from it by the doorway.

I like your dining chairs and the legs of the table. Can't see the top. Does the table have a leaf in it that can be removed? That only works if you don't need to seat 6 daily. Do you need the sideboard for storage or is it more for appearance? Or is it a sentimental family piece? It does not appear to be a set with the table.

If this is your only eating table I can see why you want to protect the table top, but it would look better to buy a waterproof and heatproof table pad to use under a washable table cloth, to replace the plastic cover over your table cloth.

Thank you partim and itsourcasa. The photos are actually the ones taken out from the real estate site before we bought the house. Our house is a mess. I just want to start with a clean slate with regards to furnishings, wall decor and paint . The windows bottom is about that of the dining chair's horizontal bar in the middle of the back rest to give you an idea.

This was also from the site. Not my furnitures. The window in the living room is wide, then about a meter away is the front door. I don't have an entryway which is also one of my goal from this post.

Best to draw out the floor plan and show the location of windows, doors etc. What is your budget? How many people do you need to seat for eating, and in the living room. Will the TV be in the living room?

Don't forget to put some pictures in your idea books so we know what style you like. I assume the living room carpet and the kitchen cabinets won't change.

Make sure the floor plan drawing is to scale mark all windows doorways all measurements clearly marked and then some idea of your style and budget. Use graph paper it makes it easier to do scaled drawings.

The pictures enlarge for me 😊. I would start by adding larger art. Be sure to hang it at the proper level, what you have is too high.

Unless you have some special situation that we don't know about, the basics are that you need a table and chairs in the dining area. How many people do you want to seat? Do you need more storage in that room too? Benches are not as comfortable as chairs, and don't fit well in the room with your windows and baseboard heating units. Are there children or adults only?

For the living room, a sofa and 2 chairs would fit well. How many people do you want to seat at one time? 2 chairs are better than a love seat, comfort-wise. It looks like the side near the front door is open - what does it open to?

Will there be a TV in this room? That will make a big difference in furniture arrangement since there seems to be only one wall it can go on.

When you send us the room dimensions with door and window openings we can give you an idea of sizes.

Thanks for the comments. I'm working on cleaning our space to give you a better picture. I really don't know how I can draw a floor plan. LOL. I don't have any interior decorating skills at all and I guess I have poor choices with furnitures.😂 I'll post what I can come up as soon as I can.😊

Use this drawing to give us a list of the measurements, in inches. Tell us the width of the windows and doors, including any trim around them, for the openings marked 1 - 6.

Then measure the walls, up to the trim, in inches, for the sections marked A - N. The measurement K is the size of the opening there, which I guess goes to a hallway or staircase.

    Like this:

    1 40

    2 38

    3 45

    Etc,

And please answer our questions about the TV, number of people and if there are children, budget and style.

I don't think that more photos of the room are going to help us, unless you're going to keep any of the furniture.

well without seeing with you furnishing in the space, my only suggestion at this point would be paint the green ceiling in the kitchen. I think the kitchen looks pretty good except the ceiling. And don't like the window coverings with the black top and side pieces.
