Are you saying move the sofa toward the sliding glass doors or toward the kitchen doorway?

If I place a chair by the fireplace, I think it will block the doorway to the game room.

I like your current arrangement. For more seating, you can use two longer sofas in the same arrangement. Or a sofa with two chairs as you have it but without the ottomans. That leaves room for a backless bench type of seating to face into the conversation area that wouldn't interfere with the TV. With any options, your seating area is rectangular, so a rug would be fine to use. You may have room for a narrow console table behind the sofa facing the tv, if you place a sofa there.

Thanks. I agree that two sofas would work well. I like the first photo a lot. So if you don't place an end table in the corner where the two sofas meet, do you have to place end tables on the other end of the sofas like in the photo?

You could use end tables on the outside ends of the sofas if you have room, or use a large enough coffee table that the end tables aren't needed at all. Or put an end table between the two sofas and have the openings on the outside ends of the sofas like you do now.

Gosh, I don't have any ideas but I am following this - because my family room is nearly the same as yours, but flip flop location of fireplace and TV! I hope you get some really good ideas :)
