Master bathroom inspiration-the whole view

I’m remodeling my bathroom and trying to figure out tile. I’m looking for inspiration and can’t find pictures that show the floor, the shower floor, the shower wall and the vanity. I have a general idea of what I want but having a hard time figuring out what will look best altogether. I’m doing a white vanity with matte black fixtures. Planning on doing 12x 24 marble looking floor tiles. Then I’m not sure if I should do the same tiles in a different size on the shower wall or something different. Also not sure if I should do a different tile I shower floor. I know I want a herringbone or hexagon pattern or tile.

I am not sure if it will look like too much white. Here are pictures I’ve found that I like.

You could use the same tile on the shower wall or a smaller version. I don't think it will look too white..it will be classy. You can bring color with plants, towels and other accessories

Here you can see the tiles from shower and floor

Your inspiration photos are lovely. Make sure you don't mix faux marble with real marble. They almost never look good together. One makes the other look fake. You can use a hex pattern on the shower floor as the tile there needs to be smaller to allow the pitch for the drain. I'd be careful using too many shapes in a space depending on how large/small it is. The 12 x 24 tiles are large and sometimes can not be laid in the best manor making them look choppy. If you have enough space for the large floor tiles, I'd put the same shape on the shower walls. It need not be the faux marble, subway tile will look great as well. Sometimes too much marble/marble look can read cold. The pics you liked seem to have either a gray vanity or a white one. If using faux marble, I would think that your counter material would have to be solid quartz. The marble look alike quartz will be different feeling than the faux marble and will not provide a cohesive look. So , imo, faux marble floor, walls in the same or subway tile, gray vanity with solid white quartz top, or white vanity. I personally don't like the matte black fixtures and don't feel they add the elegance you get when using marble. To me, they are for a more rustic/farmhouse feel. I'd use chrome, nickel, or brass.

Prefer all ONE kind of tile or marble in the shower. While well placed darker or lighter trim can be a really good look, especially if the tile/marble isn't going all the way to the ceiling, all to often the end result of mixing types of tiles or different colors can end an create a look that suggests supply or affordability issues. But then, I prefer symmetry to chaos.

    As to the showers shown:

Would NOT want huge permanent seat crowding my shower - would prefer more room without making the shower truly huge ... but if that is something you would actually want/use, go for it.

All that glass along with all those windows would not be my first choice either -- would prefer the glass only on one one side of the shower and, preferably, not a side directly across from or visible from the windows.

Even if you live in a very isolated location, there's hunting season and/or trespassers and /or children... visiting or your own family ... to consider Unless, of course, you simply have no inhibitions or are an exhibitionist or nudest anyway ... then go for it : to each his/her own.

I also like having the steam from my shower warm up the space (helps with sore muscles and arthritis) so a really wide and totally open top wouldn't necessarily be my first choice either. If, however, you keep your bedroom and bath warm enough to not want that warmth to accumulate in the shower, the wide open top would work for you.

Have you gone tile shopping yet to see/touch? Do you want natural marble or a porcelain marble lookalike? Both will work, you just have to understand and be okay with the characteristics of natural marble if you choose that.

As for all the glass. I really don’t like the “shower-show” of a fully glassed shower. I prefer a higher than normal pony wall (collarbone height on me) with glass above, and a glass door.

The opposite (dry) side of the pony wall provides a spot for colorful art, towel bar or hooks.

I am only focused on tile right now. Haven’t thought about the door yet, so ignore the doors shown. I want marble -like porcelain tiles. I’m on a tight budget so I want to do whatever is most cost effective, durable and sustainable

Your inspirations are all real stone. Go to the better tile shops in your area and see what's available; there's plenty of a marble look in porcelain on the market. Then you can decide on the finish, size options and everything else involved.

Look online at tilebar and see if you find something you like. You can get samples from them as well

Your project sounds a lot like a project we are currently working on. The homeowner has a 1947 8’ x 8’ bathroom that needed complete updating. The other comments about doing a bit of tile shopping at higher end stores (with a designer if you have one) is well worth it. In this case our designer suggested something in lighter shades to take advantage of the clean look and natural sunlight which the homeowner also liked.

Ultimately the homeowner went with our suggestion-porcelain large format tiles (12” x 24”) purchased from Bedrosian tile for the walls and floor, mosaic pebbles for the shower floor and matte black fixtures from Delta.

Good luck with your project! it will look great!
