Does ANYONE use 5,000 Kelvin with Dimmers in Kitchen / Living Room

Hello:

We are replacing old incandescents In our kitchen, living room and family room. The cans are in and my husband bought 5,000 Kelvins Lights. He loves Them. Me...not so much. Yes, I agree....we can now see! Easy to read a newspaper, etc. so that part I like! But in the evening it feels weird to be in "broad daylight" We've only had them for 3 days. He thinks the reason people don't like them is that we all grew up with incandescent and it's just a matter of getting used to them. I read several threads on this forum about 5,000 but I saw NO one using them in living space. Are we crazy!?

Also, I saw there is a light that you can change color called Philips Hue. Are these Normal colors just like a 3;00 or 5;000 kelvin? Any drawbacks?
