Since she wants to keep her cabinets, I’d suggest taking one to a paint store and matching it as closely as possible, so that the cabinets blend with the walls rather than contrast and to unify the small spaces of kitchen/living. Then, add pops of color with towels, art, pillows, and accessories to draw the eye! Good luck!

Does she want patterned or plain curtains? If she wants a pattern, she can pick one of its colors for the walls. Are the pillow covers staying or being replaced?

What is the true color of the kitchen cabinets? They appear pinkish-something in the photos.
Meanwhile, I suggest taking the group of small pictures away from the TV area and moving them to another, more visible spot, and possibly into a large multi-pic picture frame.

Do you think your mom would be amenable to moving the t.v.? If she moved it to where the sofa is now, she could put the sofa across from the love seat so the t.v. can be easily seen from both the sofa and the love seat. As far as wall color, I see what looks like an off white paint outside of the kitchen. Can that be matched and used in the rest of the space?

@altadavey That makes sense. Her cabinets are generally a light grey, but in some light appear beige/ivory.

@apple_pie_order She is thinking a simple off white or white. Not sure if she is replacing cushions, but its a good question. She sews, so it would be easy for her to re-cover.

@George Withmore Thank you! They just put in the wood-look luxury vinyl and like it a lot. I will suggest to focus on lighting. They have a lot of windows in the living room and a sliding door, not seen. I think they have two table lamps and she uses a special floor light for sewing.
