Help! I need kitchen cabinet advice before purchasing new countertop!

We are ready to install new kitchen cabinets and we have a bit of dead space between the very last cabinet and molding/sliding glass doors. Should we add an angled lower/upper cabinets to fill in that space or leave as is? I would love more countertop space but am concerned how an angled countertop and cabinetry would look in that area. We are installing angled cabinets (upper/lower) on the side of the refrigerator on the opposite wall (last photo).I’m not sure if this is relevant but the style for my renovation is a bit farmhouse. I would be grateful for advice!!

if you want extra overhang, then just continue the countertop! if it's no more than 10", you won't need support. if it is more, have them do a steel bracket support in the plywood.

have nothing under the countertop. o

I don't think there's really room for an angle on the bottom -- they're usually 12" on a side, and then you need room for the counter to extend beyond that.

Acm, I believe there is a bit more than 12 as these 12 inch cabinets fit in that space. These aren’t the cabinets that we are using but I put them there so I could visually see what an angled cabinet would look like .

well than the countertop will need to be angled and you really won't get much use out of it. right?

or, do you like any of these? they all have uppers tho

this one looks funky w/nothing above the angled portion (the others look better, above)

if you did a regular sized cabinet, would it impede the flow from the doorway? or, why was the space there?

I'd prob just leave it and put a potted plant in the spot.

Looks like it would work. Alternative would be to use an open shelf unit as opposed to a door type.

Thanks, Beth 😊 The cabinets we are using are 24, 30, 24. The cabinet would not impede the doorway but I think if we put a a 12 (not angled) it wouldn’t be symmetrical and look odd. I am thinking the only way to fill the dead space is with an angled cabinet but I can’t seem to find many examples so I started to think that maybe that style is a bit outdated. But what do I know? Lol

Beth, these photos are great and something to consider. Do you think the countertop would look funky with the left side straight edge and the right angled?

A non-angled cab wouldn't be symmetrical relative to what?

Did you consider replacing the lower in it's entirety with a 12" wider base cabinet? That may not be much more money than buying a 12" angled base. It's not a drawer base so that cuts costs considerably.

Another possibility is to move the existing base cabinet down 12" and slip a 12" base between the microwave cabinet and the existing base cabinet.
