Do you want to keep it as a guest room? Are you keeping the bedding? What is your budget?

I am open to suggestions since I don’t need it to be primarily a guest room. Haven’t thought about budget. Maybe a couple of thousand.

Ooh how fun!! What else could you use it for? Home office? Craft room? Reading room? Exercise/yoga? Tv room? Playroom for kids? So many possibilities!

I think I’ll keep as a guest room and maybe use a daybed in there. I really don’t like the chair and other old pieces. What I need help with is replacing some of those items.

Clear out the bed and chair donate or whatever. Then layout the rug so we can see it.

I think it's a really cute room. I'd change out the color (it looks yellow) to something lighter and more soothing. Pale blue, ivory, etc. I'd get an upholstered headboard to make the bed more inviting and replace the blanket on the end of the bed with a nice throw. A daybed would tuck nicely into the alcove. A trundle would make it more flexible by letting it turn into a king size. What style do you want the room to be?

Since you don’t use this room as sleeping area often, I suggest you consider a “murphy or cabinet” bed. Many options out there. They take up very little floor space, freeing up room for other uses. A library/reading room, or craft room. Whatever pleases you. Here are some ideas.

Jck10: I have a day bed that is similar to the second one above. I do like it, but since it’s silver colored, I’m not sure if it would go with the oil rubbed door hardware?

Flo, I thank you for the ideas. But I would rather go with a day bed. I think I’d use it more and in the event someone spends the night, it’ll be more convenient.

You could spray paint your daybed and have some fun with it.

IMO day beds are not ideal if you have the room for a regular bed (which it seems you do). Not that comfortable to sleep on and not comfortable to sit on either - too many pillows required.

window niche needs a floor lamp. bed needs nightstand(s) with table lamp(s)...
