If you find the right neutral gray it can work - I have the walls painted light french gray (Sherwin Williams) with cherry cabinets and a similar but lighter than cherry color on the LVP flooring. The main floor bedrooms and living room is gray carpet that goes with the walls, and the backsplash in the kitchen is the same tile that was put up around the fireplace where there used to be a beige tile instead.

I personally love gray and all of my wood furniture is medium-dark cherry stained with some black pieces that are down in the basement where the office space is set up and the family room area for the kiddos is (you can't tell but the tv stand in the first picture is a dark expresso finish but kinda looks black in the photo). The fireplace in the top photo shows the tile that was used for the backsplash to pull the look together - I had the guys do a herringbone type pattern, the tile was cut in half so it would fit into the wall space properly with the herringbone pattern from where the counter meets the wall and up to the very bottom of the upper kitchen cabinets. The granite is blanco romano (I think? it's mostly gray/cream granite but there are bits of garnet colored pieces mixed in which looks nice with the cherry tones of the cabinet in a subtle way).
