Uniform, properly hung window treatments will help make the room look more finished and cozy. It looks like some windows have no treatments, other treatments are too short.

A rug that combines the different colors in the room will help make it look more cohesive. You have brown floors, a charcoal couch, light gray window treatments. The wall color appears to be a pale blue gray. A patterned rug will help tie everything together.

The sofa is really too big for the space. Can you flip it to a different wall? Perhaps the wall with the multiple windows or opposite the entry. Then angle the console and TV in the opposite corner.

Agree on a rug, and then possibly a coffee table, so you have someplace to set a cup or a magazine.

Honestly, this looks like a very long room. I think I'd be tempted to push the whole seating area toward the window end, allowing the TV to be more centered between the high windows (and away from the glare). Then the other end of the room can be a separate functionality -- a storage piece with a floor lamp next to it, say, or a bookcase and arm chair, or a game table... It's hard to get a whole long space into a single grouping without its feeling too spread out.

I definitely agree with acm on the idea of moving everything down toward the windows so the tv is between the two windows. Look for longer lined or blackout curtains that match your wall color. You need about double the amount of panels. I find that back tabs hang much more nicely than grommet tops. Then add roman shades to the windows to help soften them. Although your throw is pretty, I'm not sure the colors work well with your sofa and wall color. This throw from West Elm would look great with both your sofa and wall color.

You could keep your white pillows but instead of the gray, consider something like these.

Have you tried putting the couch on the tv wall and putting tv on opposite wall?

Thank you for your suggestions! This room is tricky because the entry is off to the side, where the treated windows are so if I move the couch over it’ll block the entrance. The walls are light blue. I’m going to try eveuchan’s idea and uniform window treatments.

Sounds like a good plan. Post some pics of the changes when you're done.

Here is some good curtain advice. Just remember that curtains come in just a few stock sizes so that will also dictate how high you can hang them.

    Not a Pro.

Can you separate the sectional a bit? Possibly Chaise by the windows?

Adding narrow end tables to separate them to look cohesive.

Hy , I saw your post and want to share my idea for your room. Firs of all you need to repaint room in to neutral white ( all walls). TV furniture also need to be more modern, try to use wood and warm colors on it here example - https://www.artasdesign.lt/en/interjeras/house-in-pilaite/

Put your sectional on the tv wall. It is begging for something long. Put your tv on the small wall by the entry. Then depending on how long your room is, you can add a second seating area for a reading nook or game table at the other end of the room.
The drapery situation obviously needs to be addressed, as well as end tables, coffee table, lamps, rug(s) etc, but as I've heard so many times on here, get the main arrangement right first.

I agree with Lisa. Move the sectional to the back wall. It's your only hope. You already know that this sectional was a bit too big for the room, but it was selected for comfort. Now you have to make the room seem as spacious as possible so there can be only one walkway in the room and that dictates that the sectional has to be placed on the long wall with the TV across from it.

Select some drapes that complement the sofa. The sofa looks gray in all the pictures.

Changing the sectional really made a huge difference! I’ll have to measure my window for the right drapery length. That’s next on this needed transformation!

Oh my goodness, so much better! You are on the right track, for sure.

Definitely the right track. Put coffee table on the list after curtains, but I appreciate your ingenuity... ;)
The chair down by the tv is not to the scale of your couch. I'd move it somewhere else. Maybe the opposite corner of the room or by your shoe bench?
End tables? Do you have anything that could be used as a place for lamps?

Now move the TV where Beverly shows on her floor plan. Cornering the TV is not helpful and eats up valuable floor space. You could angle the little chair in that corner and it would make sense, especially with a floor lamp and maybe a bookcase for a nice reading nook.

I don’t think there is enough space for the TV against the wall. The corner is likely the best location

Invest in a pad of graph paper and draw your room to scale with sizes posted and each window and doorway noted. For each piece of furniture in your room, also draw that to scale -- size and approximate shape -- and cut out a piece of index card in that size/shape. Then see if you can move around your furniture so you're not looking at a window above your tv. Otherwise, you might want to limit yourself to night time tv unless you invest in room darkening mini-blinds or shades for your room because looking into the sunlight is likely not good for your eyes.

Especially if the sofa is to be set in front of the window, choose a window covering that is NOT fabric that is a vertically straight curtain or drape panels -- not anything that would only look good if they're hang below the window sill.

Instead, you might consider adding a long-sided swag valance that will hang from above the window only to the bottom of the window sill -- about the same length of the window -- for each window -- over white mini-blinds. The mini-blinds will provide privacy and light control as needed and when the blinds are all the way up, the valance will completely cover them.

Unclutter. Clutter is "busy" rather than "cozy".

Forget the rug. Your space is small and a room rug will only visually shrink it more.

Much better! You might consider placing the console straight on the wall and purchasing a swivel mount for the t.v. so you can swing it out for viewing instead of taking up space in front of the windows.

How long are the curtains you have now?

No delicate swags, your window treatments need length and/or oomph to balance with the strong sectional. A rug with a subtle pattern that uses the colors in the room will be an easy way to visually pull the room together.

Swags don't need to be lacy or delicate -- some are made of the same materials from which drapes are made and some are even lined. They come in a variety of colors, including red with white lining -- solid colors wold suit your room best..

A rug in a small space is just something else to crowd it, especially if it is a loud color or "busy" pattern.

A long narrow room often need to have the bulk of the furnishings on one side of the room so there can be a walk path through the room.

If you want to keep the TV in the corner area, I would get a full-motion TV mount so it is flat against the wall (TV stand will be straight against the wall too) when not in use and you can tilt it to the direction of the sofa when in use.

I’m going to look into mounting the tv like katinparadise and rthawk mentioned. That’s definitely going to be a space saver. I like the image beverlyfladeziner!

I’m not sure about swags but adding shades under the curtains is a good idea... I’m thinking roller shades.

What Beverly shows you works well and looks terrific to start. The only thing I would change is the TV - change it to what katinparadise and rthawk described. The console your TV is on now is contributing to the visual clutter - and their solution will eliminate that and clear up that corner area. Your room looks so much better with the sectional moved to the long wall. That sofa table Bevs shows really works with that end of the sofa - so you can add a lamp and make the room even more cozy. I love the curtains Bev shows and the way to hang them so they don't crowd the window (high) and full. Good luck, have fun with your new room! You are on the right track OP.

There are rooms that are so large one floats the furniture--but those rooms are not the NORM. Much better up against the wall, don't cramp your space! And do not be swayed by that curtain hanging advise. Unless you have reason to disguise too small window just hang them like normal people --just above the wood trim on top, skimming the floor on the bottom, for living-rooms. If you have the space and the open bank can be off the window to maximize the light and view--that is optimum.

Not sure if you have done curtains....I like the patterned idea; lots of fun ones out there......your rod should be one inch diameter minimum. And your curtain panels should add up to 2 and 1/2 the width of you window.....if your window is 4 feet wide, then your panels should be 10 feet, in order to cover the window when you want to watch TV and have no light peeking in to the room or out of the room. Also a good idea to have the curtains with lining to protect them and help them hang smoothly.
