Tina, lovely shape! Try to cross it with Z. candida as a seed parent, you will love the result!

I have a few different Zephyranthes (I think I have white, yellow, pink and a "jumbo" purple... assuming they didn't get dumped from their pots last year while I was on vacation). I need to learn to let them go dry, so I can get blooms! I wasn't successful in getting a bloom from my Sprekelia last year... maybe it will happen again this year. The flowers don't last long, but they are stunning when they arrive!

If you place it in a cool room, it should last for a few days. The regular ones seem fuzzy indeed to rebloom, but once established, they bloom every year.

My Sprekelia are well established, but still finicky about blooming. I need to sort out what will keep them happy. They're in a somewhat shallow bulb bowl and they might prefer something deeper. I'm not sure!

Definetly deeper, mine grow in 30 cm tall pots. Once I have transplanted them out of plastic pots, they do so much better.

Are you growing them in tall plastic or terra cotta pots?

Even better, pots made from coconut husk. They do okay in terracotta pots too, but I did notice that most of the bulbs do so much better in the coconut husk pots, especially for the warmest part of the year

I'll need to get the Sprekelia moved over to something that gives their roots some room to dive deeper. Thanks for the advice! *smile*

I haven't seen pots made from coconut husks. We can get coconut-based baskets and on one occasion I saw a long window planter... but I've never seen pots. I'll look around for them! I do use coconut husk chips and coconut coir in a lot of medium mixes for orchids and for hippeastrum. All of my cymbidium orchids are potted in a medium that is mostly coconut husk chips.

It is a good medium indeed, the plants growing in them need only regular feedings. I use it for veggies seedlings and branch rooting (e.g. roses).
