I followed the mask instructions video on Bonnie Hunter's blog...

I finally decided to try. My problem at first was that people were saying it was a waste of time because they aren't regulation. Then when they said they could be used anyway I found that I didn't have elastic and no hair bands. So in her video you make the ties out of T-Shirt material and it works great. So I made 2 of them - one for me and one for DH. This one has a pocket in it to insert filter material if you want to.

I read online that some professions use the homemade over their official mask to keep it clean longer.

Yes that's what my sister told me, she is a physician's assistant.

Thanks for alerting me to Bonnie's mask pattern, Rita. I had run out of elastic, and her pattern that uses stretched strips of old t-shirts was just what I needed. I made four of them today.
