How many do you want to seat? What's your budget for furniture?

    Would like to seat 8.

On my monitor your FP stone looks to have a lot of blue/green in it. That would be something to consider when sampling paint colors. Have you thought about a round dining table?

I like deco's idea for a round table. You'd need a 72" table to seat 8 comfortably. What are the measurements of your dining space?

To seat 8 in your living room, you would need two three-seater sofas and two chairs. Again, what are the measurements of the space?

Do you need to seat 8 at every meal or just be able to accommodate 8 at certain times of the year, because you only have 6 currently?

Normally just need 6 seats, but many times have 12+ over. Large family. :)

Current dining table 106x47 (no leaves).

    Dining table area 11 x 14.

Great room we do have 2 sofas 76" each & 1 loveseat.

Thought about sectional with 1 or 2 chairs.

Need walk way around so furniture space area would be 12' x 13'.

    Blue/gray in stone. fireplace.

    Thanks so much!!

Your table looks rather cool and transitional- woodsy?

here's diy chalk paint idea, and a 'break' from dark fp nearby -

PRO / Mustard Seed Interiors: "I didn't prime these cabinets; Annie Sloan Chalk Paint doesn't require a primer base coat. I used Old White inside and Louis Blue outside. I then distressed them, added clear furniture wax and then dark wax to antique the finish."

Here is other pics. Would like to be less old style and less brown.

Not rustic or metal.......with ceramic & granite lots of noise already. Would like to be bright with more of a contemp. if possible. Current table is maple & super durable but needs to be refinished or replaced. Maybe just different rugs & light fixtures would help?

I like too much! Thats why I need help pulling together something nice for this house. :)

When I go through pics, lean more to traditional just not the older stuff. Do love crystal chandeliers as well as globes better than shade styles.

The biggest is the fp - what do you react / think about it / what have you considered as a direction toward your look? I agree with kate....

I also have a puffy sofa - in such air space it's not so bad - you could add 2 large accent chairs to it.

    Has a slipcover feel, welted look and track armrests. W 30" / D 35" / H 36" / 83 lbs./ 95% Polyester, 5% Nylon.

As to fp and your liking for chan. style - can you install where there's a ceiling fan? one that drops low, and complements and might be a striking feature....

You posted photo with shelves - would it work to remove uppers of the built ins - place shelves and puck lights or with large pieces of art.... maybe at top of the empty spaces, you could sconce or hang wood/ bit of fancy [lighting].

With much stone, I've seen leather of green and burgundy [brick, dull red is my liking...]

Hi again... I have time. The table kate suggested spiffy product or a pro -- could a large group eat if it were rotated? and you add a folding type table in same room [tablecloth?].

What are measurements of the area that could hold tables?

Even currently, I could see 2 chandeliers.

You have a beautiful home! I love your dining room table and chairs! Have you thought about sourcing a long bench on one side, and keeping your table and chairs? Maybe you could use chalk paint to paint them white or black to update them, and paint the walls designer white?

Thanks for all the great ideas!!

I would like to keep the solid maple table as it is in good shape & big. What color to refinish & do I keep the same chairs or trade out some with a bench?

    What table chandelier?

    What area rug?

Kitchen, great room, foyer all same paint color. Change all the paint or just kitchen?

There is a cherry ceiling fan in great room we could change out.

Would a light or dark grey or white leather sofa work in great room?

    If so, what side chairs?

    What area rug?

    Thanks again!

Just my opinion I’d keep the table as is, and keep all of the chairs. You can seat at least 4 on one side with the chairs you have, and use two for the ends, then add a bench on one side. Paint the chairs black (maybe distress a little—chalk paint), and add one of those hip chandeliers that everdebz suggested! The color of the walls are good as is. Maybe add some plants.

Or what about keeping the table and add some chairs with nailhead trim?

Thanks So much! What about different area rug?

I know I’m a minority in this opinion...no area rug under the chairs! ;) someone else here with more style would have a better suggestion than I! 😂

I'd paint everything BM White Dove - including the built-ins flanking the FP. Solid cream-colored wool rugs (overstock has loads of options). Black or bronze light fixtures (Circa Lighting). Paint the stair railing White Dove as well (trim paint finish). Your dining table is perfect. Paint your dining chairs black. It will all feel fresh and crisp!

Tall fp and tall windows with no fabric, etc... I'd like photoshop with color at eye level, to add grounded feeling [esp. fireplace area]

I like the idea of lighter paint...will white dove still allow for the trim work to stand out?

Is it okay to keep kitchen cabinets cherry while painting fireplace built ins? What about fireplace mantle...keep cherry?

We do need rugs to cut down sound & red mud here stains so I have to be careful with light rugs.

thanks for so many great ideas!

Maybe with your table, altered somehow.
