Outside, my house is a classic, symmetrical colonial, and we live in a small New England town outside of Boston. Inside is a bit more transitional, modern farmhouse. I'm replacing all the exterior lighting, including a new light and post (not shown in image, it's at the end of the driveway) the two lights that flank the front door, 2 lights over the garage doors, and 2 lights on the rear of the house.

I'd love to do something fun like the onion style, but is ti too trendy - does it clash with the traditional style of the home and will it stand the test of time?

This is the one that was recommended to me to best suit the style of the home, but it feels a little... meh. Thoughts?
