Curb appeal help - 1950s FL Ranch

Tiny 1950s house reno. Need suggestions on paint, shutters and anything else you want to weigh in on :-) Should I leave clamshells off or put back on and paint with strips or something fun/retro? If leave them off, is trim needed around the windows? Would love color suggestions on how to make this look better!!!! Clearly landscaping is on the reno list but looking for house first. Thank you!!

can't advise on the "clamshells" without seeing them -- do you just mean shutters?

fresh paint, brightly colored door, larger lamp by door. maybe a bright trim color for the roof, flowering plant in small bed under large window. cute house!

Thank you - I added a photo with clamshells (old fashioned hurricane shutters).

I would paint this house a bright fun color! You could put shutters on the two small windows.

I love this combo for your house…navy shutters and pale gray siding.

This cutie could be your inspiration. Notice patio and trim around the exterior.

Awesome - love it - thank you very much. Would love to use the Bahama shutters instead of clamshell :-)

While I agree with Judy's idea of Bahama shutters, I would suggest the shorter styles that don't fully cover the windows.

Then add a more modern light fixture, along with a door that's a bit more modern. Something like a full light door with reed or rain glass.

I would keep the body of the house white and add color in your door and shutters.

These are 38" wide, which should work for your all of your windows if you use two on the larger window. They would have to be attached with hinges and then a rod to keep them open. https://www.wayfair.com/outdoor/pdp/shutters-by-design-pine-bermuda-bahama-shutter-single-shut2579.html

You're welcome. They're a bit of an investment but they'll make such a big impact on the house. I would look for some horsetail grass to plant under your large window. It's really pretty with mid-mod style houses.

Thank you - I will look into that plant. Not familiar with it but it's very pretty and prob low maintenance. I was thinking of putting white rock and two Adirondacks chairs in that little area but I like the grass.

I hope you'll post pics of your progress. It's a great little house and I'd love to see how it turns out!

I rather like the retro appearance of the Clamshell Awnings, but would prefer if they were striped with the color you paint the house.

acm clamshells are the shadings over the windows.

sydneybrooksie Horsetail is a reed, which are indigenous to wetlands. Which means they need a lot of (potentially standing) water.
