Help with kitchen cabinets/backsplash

We recently moved in and would like to paint our kitchen cabinets. We are not planning on replacing the counter tops at this time, but further down the road we would like to do a bigger kitchen renovation. I need help deciding what color to paint the cabinets as well as advice for a backsplash that would create a beachy/coastal look that also matches with the counter top. I was initially planning to do gray or white, but can’t decide! I know I want to do shiplap around the outside of the kitchen island, which I initially thought to have white. I have attached photos of our kitchen furniture right beside the island, as well as bar stools we will be putting at the bar. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi Sarah!!! Loving the new space!! Do you plan on keeping the white appliances or replacing them with stainless? If you plan to replace I would say go all white with maybe a coastal blue glass tile backsplash. If you plan on keeping the white appliances maybe go for a greenish blue cabinet with the glass blue backsplash? You would have to see how the greenish blue color looked with the counter tops though. I attached some pics of what I was thinking! Can’t wait to see what you do!!

No gray with those warm toned bones. It’s dead, and will clash horribly. Leave what’s there. Live with it fo 6 months.

What if you went with darker blue (or darker grayish-blue) on the cabinets? Could still do your shiplap, brushed bronze hardware ..

@Shannon Jenkins Thank you so much :) I appreciate that advice. We are going to replace all the appliances with stainless steel. I like the coastal back splash idea.. we just need to find one that will go with the counter. Thank you again!!! You guys will have to come over soon for a play date

I'm going to have to live with laminate and no back splash for a year or so until I can afford my stone. The cabinets went way over budget. Yours looks great, I wish you knew the pattern. I have an entire chain of wilsonart and it's not that.
