Has anyone installed Flooret Modin in the Base model?

Looking for info on the base model of the Flooret Modin line. Pics and comparison to the signature line appreciated. Thank you.

Just ordered samples of base model. Came here to research a similar question.

I ordered and received samples as well. I really like the product! I feel comfortable with the 20mil wear layer, as opposed the beefier 40mil on the signature model. The big difference is going to be the plank size and bevel detail, I think. I'm really hoping to get a visual of how they lay on an installed floor for comparison. Let me know what you think of your samples.

I messaged Devin at Flooret and asked if they had any installation pics of any of the base options. He said no since they were so new. Maybe we’ll get lucky here?

Four or so years ago we installed the original Flooret 40 mil product. We were very happy with the product, so, when it came time for a new project, I ordered samples of Flooret's newer version--the Signature line. I was turned off by the heavy bevel in the Signature so talked to the company and got some samples of the just-introduced 20 mil "base" line. Having all three materials to compare, I'd say that the new base line seems quite similar to the original except that the planks are smaller and there is a 20 mil wear layer rather than the 40 mil originally offered.

As a consumer, I think they erred in changing from their original product line. For this project, we did not go with Flooret.

@julieste who did you all end up using if you don't mind me asking. Thanks!

Still working so haven’t cleaned up the construction mess, but we installed Brenwick base throughout this floor of our house.

Julieste - looks like some great options. What was the price per sq ft for the flooring? Thx.

    Barb--

It was definitely more per sq. ft. than the Modin Base. I can't remember exactly but think I paid somewhere in the low $4 per sq. ft range for the Karndean rigid core. This is one of those situations where the pandemic and other issues delayed the entire project, and the flooring sat a long time in the local warehouse.

@Barb Chalambra I'm also looking at the base model Brenwick. It looks great in the picture you posted!. Do you have any other pictures of it? We were also looking at Coretec Hampshire Oak but I don't like the 9 inch wide planks. Online the color looks similar to Brenwick. Do you know if the bevel is the same on the base as it is on the signature?

Signature very definitely has a heavier painted bevel that is very apparent. Lack of that bevel is one of the primary differences between the two lines.

I’m also wondering about the base model since I’m on the fence about the look of the wide plank. If anyone has pics of Kingswood or Sutton Base, please post. Thanks in advance!

@Barb Chalambra, would you give an update on your experience with the Flooret Modin Basic?

I like their product, but not a fan of the oversized planks or the pronounced bevel!

Mary Elizabeth - Agreeing here as well. the bevel looks like a potential chore for cleaning and the oversized, in my opinion, will definitely date the floor.

The 9" x 6' might be nice for fast installation, but when do you ever see a real wood floor that size? We have 4" solid maple hardwood on our main level, and even though we monitor our humidity levels, we live in a 4 season climate, so there is definite movement.

I like the 6" size in the Flooret, but wish it was at least 5' long. Seems like they don't want to compete with their Signature line.

Still hoping for some comments from anyone who has installed and lived with their Basic. We will need to pick our flooring before the end of the month.

@julieste what was the price point on the kardean? I’m curious as to how it compares to the Modin base as both have a 20mil wear-layer

We've only been living with the Karndean a couple months, but thus far I couldn't be happier with it. We've installed it throughout our second floor and plan to also use it when we remodel our first floor. I now it was more than the Modin base. I can't remember exactly what I paid, but I know it was costlier than the Modin base. I maybe paid somewhere around $4.30 a square foot. Right now it seems to me that the 40mil wear layer on the Modin Signature is overkill (I have the original product with the 40 mil installed in a basement). The Karndean I bought has a 15 year commercial warranty; that's good enough for me.

I am looking at https://www.flooret.com/luxury-vinyl-plank-flooring/lato-base/ and liking it but haven't seen any installation of this product on houzz. Anyone aware of anything similar to this?

I am not a big fan of pronounced bevels and like the width of 6".
