'Athene' & 'Wedding Dance' are solid choices for large white flowers with Green Throats. Below is a picture of my 'Athene' which is currently in bloom. 'Wedding Dance' is a rugged cultivar that is very hardy and prolific in the ground in zone 7b, eBay sellers will have these seasonally. Amaryllis Man (850carol) is a good one to check as well as rarebulbs.

I am little more than a novice myself, but for standard sized hippeastrums try Red Lion and for the much shorter Sonatinis try Fire Dancer. Both are reds and are about as dependable to start with as one could ask for. I have them both and don't have any trouble maintaining them once they have bloomed out. I keep mine under LED lights, Red Lion is a bit too large, since I can't raise my lights over about 20", but Fire Dancer fits nice in both bloom and foliage.
