Creeser/Can – I’m not sure my engineering background factors into a discussion about lightning or things that go thru walls! (LOL) You must have good genes in your family! I have another good lightning story for you. We had a fairly large backyard, for a city home in Brooklyn, and towards the back there was a dry well where water was supposed to drain away from the house. The area was also dug out, but got silted back in over time. One time in a storm with lightening & thunder, we started getting water backed up into the basement. Mom grabbed the pitchfork, to dig out the hole in the backyard .. a pitchfork my grandfather made .. the forked bottom screwed into a length of metal pipe .. all steel. Mom dug away at the hard earth for a while, in the pouring rain, until she developed a blister on her hand. She stuck the pitchfork into the ground, and stopped to look at her palm .. and that’s just when lightning struck the pitchfork! We looked at each other, and to us it was just a sign that you have to have faith, because you have no control over when something like that can happen to you! Lisa – Thank you! Took hubby and went out and looked at a bank owned house for sale yesterday. Now that my kids are both at university, we don't really need a big house. Plus, we're both a bit tired of the maintenance...houses can be a lot of work and I have been busy enough that I don't want to work on my house in the evenings. We've got two big hangups on the way to downsizing...what to do with all our stuff and how to find another house we both like. I imagine we'll end up staying in this house for quite a while yet because we don't seem to have the same ideas about what we want to buy. I think we probably viewed at least 60 houses before we found this house I really liked the house we saw yesterday...1500 sq foot 2 bedroom bungalow with an unheated attic that has good stairs up to an absolutely huge great room. The attic room has wood planks on the walls and drywalled ceiling all the way to the underside of the rafters. The space is huge, almost 30 x 40 feet with windows on all 4 walls. Plus, it has a full, unfinished basement in good condition as well. Hubby's point was if we finished out the attic, it wouldn't really count as downsizing. His thinking is that it would be a shame to have such a unique space and not use it! I wouldn't mind just living on the main floor and finishing out the attic if either child ended up moving in with us at some point. I know what will probably happen is that he will come up with all sorts of objections until I tell him that the house is under contract and then he'll start telling me that I should have put in an offer on it. I don't think it will stay on the market long as it is bank owned and is quite a lot of house for the price.

I find the question to this topic quite interesting. I answered "other". I think it really doesn't matter where the "man space" is or what it looks like. If the guy has an area that he frequently goes to and knows he can chew loudly, scratch, burp and pass gas without someone to hear and complain about it then they are happy. LOL. Now i realize this is probably why a relative stopped visiting me- I couldn't handle the noises LOL
