What color tile and grout to tie in tan brown granite?

I really love the white cabinets as it opens up my small kitchen but I hate this granite! But replacing it is not an option unfortunately. Next best option was to redo backsplash to tie in the tan brown granite and the SW Morris Room Grey paint. Any ideas?! I was thinking white subway tile with charcoal grout or brown grout to match the brown/black of the granite. Any help is appreciated! I’m clueless when it comes to this kind of stuff 😢

can you take another pic that shows the whole space? And the flooring?

we can suggest a better wall color for you.

do you have a lot of cabinet area? Pre-fab granite countertops can be done for around 1500 or so, if you don't have a huge area to cover. they come in all types of granite and quartz, and a 9' countertop usually runs in the $450 range. you pay a fabricator to cut and install.

Just another option.

Demoing that tile splash, new tile, and labor, is going to be over 1K. (unless you're doing it yourselves?) Save money by demoing it yourself.

Do not put tile up on that side portion. just skim coat the dry wall and paint.

Try to find a tile w/bullnose edge or use a edging piece. Using tile like this vertically to finish a border is wonky-looking. (don't do this side wall and you won't have to worry about it.

any of these tile colors and sizes should be good. I would NOT do a regular white 3x6 subway tile.

The pink and greens in BB look really bad with yellow based whites. You need a green or red based white. The green whites will emphasize the pink in the granite, and the red whites will emphasize the greens in the granite. Pick wisely. Match that with a taupe wall color.

You are right!!! I was told it was Baltic brown at one point and have been researching extensively and just found a stock photo of granite that is definitely mine and it says tan brown! I just found this 5 minutes ago, I should have came here first and asked lol. i will try to edit my post to reflect tan brown

Livewire is right - your wall color for the room is reading too gray if you are keeping these counters. A white subway to match the cabinets with a linen white grout would be fine - but it will never feel right if the wall color isn’t addressed.

Painting is definitely next on the list now! More of a taupe color, I love the swatches Livewire included, I have saved them for the future.
