Wooden porch ceiling direction question

shead

Today, without clarifying with us, our builder's framing crew ran 2x4 strapping perpendicular to the ceiling joists across our back covered porch area. I assume this means they plan on installing the wooden v-groove ceiling planks front to back instead of longways across our porch which is 48 ft long. We naturally assumed the planks would run parallel with the house and before I address this with the builder, I wanted to get opinions from others. Is there a GOOD reason to run it front to back that I'm not seeing right now? I hate to ask them to undo work unless absolutely necessary since I've already had two other change requests today...lol. I see pics of it both ways on Google images and on Houzz :/ I still think I prefer longways, though.
