I need advice, we have a “finding Nemo” stained glass window

We bought the house last year and I didn’t like the under sea stained glass window (It’s not painted on, it’s real) in our master bathroom but we’ve asked two different professionals and they said it is mortared in when they tiled the window! So, instead of getting it replaced I will probably order faux iron inserts for both sides to conceal it. Are there any other ideas? I love Tuscan and very traditional decor - we are tiling the bathroom now. Is there any other way to cover it?

More photos please including close ups and photos from the outside. Worse case it can be smashed out and replaced with clear glass from the exterior.

We had two different glass companies come and they wanted us to completely remove the tile but we decided not to do that. We just want to know if there’s something that can be done like frosting it or something? I don’t know though the colors are so vibrant and bright, ugh

Can we see the outside? There isn't much you can't cut loose with an oscillating saw or reciprocating saw.

I would try to find a mirror to install over the stained glass. You can have it cut to fit, and if necessary have a circular piece of metal cut to fit to hold it in place.

Install a piece of solid surface in front of it. Maybe backlight it.

Have you contacted the seller? The window probably is of sentimental (or other) value to them and they might like to take it.

Look for a stain glass artist; they can design a new scene and remove and replace with the old. .Since you redid the bath's tiles why leave it to now to resolve? You could have had the glass changed or at least covered over if you don't mind seeing it on the outside.

We used acid wash and then used a special roll-on material to tile over tile so that we did not have to rip out the tile and expose the wall surrounding the shower.

The seller passed away, both husband and wife, and the original owner is the one who had to put in 20 years ago who now lives in a mansion somewhere.

I didn’t want to take a reciprocating saw to the exterior stucco of the home as well as the inside shower surround that has been tiled. We have removed several windows in the past and it was no problem but this one we just didn’t want to do it because it’s actually in the shower. Time is of the essence because will probably end up putting it on the market in a few months. My husband’s been offered a job 3000 miles away.

You can't guess what a prospective buyer will like. Maybe just leave it alone. Someone might love it.

Since you are selling, I would just leave it alone . Someone buying the house may gut the bathroom or pull all that tile to do something they like. If your realtor says its a big issue and is getting negative feedback then deal with it.

    Personally I like it!

I understand your dilemma. To me it is an eye sore. Had the ceramic been white it may have helped a little. But like Debbi Washburn said, as you are thinking of selling, just leave it. Someone else will deal with it. I don't think it would be the reason why someone would not buy your house. After all you did :)
