I would delete this message, since I found the source of the problem, which is my gmail account. It evidently thinks that generated messages from Houzz are spam, and so they do not show up in my inbox as normal messages.

Same here lars. No notifications. So I've been checking and sure enough I had one a couple days ago.

And a post still 'out there', and I did not use carp, (cr+p)

I get notification, but lately hours (seventeen hours in one case) after the PM is sent.

ETA: I should clarify that the PM did not even appear in my inbox until seventeen hours after the fellow forum member sent it. Where the heck was it during all that time?! So weird.

Mine works only sporadically. Sometimes the notifications come instantly, some times they never come at all. I have not changed anything on my end, so I chalk it up to general Hoazz wonky-ness.

I would send Houzz a certified letter threatening to cancel membership if it happens again. :)

I haven’t had notifications for months! So annoying. I’ve checked all my settings. Nothing has changed. They’re not in spam. Just weird.

I never get them anymore, maybe I have it shut off. going to check it.

Glad you figured it out. My first thought was check your junk/spam mailbox. I check one of my junk folders daily, but not on my gmail account.
Maybe I need to start doing that...

No one ever sends me PMs, or so I think. I browse CF on my phone and the mobile version of Houzz doesn’t appear to have a PM feature at all.

I rarely get messages, and haven't gotten one recently.

I am having a hard tme following any threads lately. Yesterday I was able to select sort by OLDEST and it worked. Today it's just chaotic and frustrating.

I really wish they could get this to work.

I don't get many notifications when someone responds to a post. Sometimes, I can see a green circle with the number, but about half the time I don't get a notification. My PC keyboard doesn't always work when trying to type a post. Only happens with Houzz. Their advice was to clear cookies and cache!!! This tells me they don't know and have no intention of figuring it out. Sometimes, I can find my posts in activity, and sometimes I can't.

The bell icon with the green circle is defective. Every time your mouse pointer runs over it, it resets and the green circle goes away. You can set your personal settings in your dashboard to receive e-mail notifications. Also, if someone uses and @ with your screenname, you'll get an e-mail alert. This works well for older threads where someone isn't sure you'll check back.

last week I received notification for a thread that hadn't been posted on in 4 yrs. 4 yrs ago! was that notification floating around in space all of these yrs?

linnea, some spammer probably revived the thread, then the spam was reported and removed from the thread, but you still got the notification.

I think part of the problem may be the gardenweb.com / houzz.com dichotomy.

I've got an email thread thru houzz going with another member, but the last several messages have not only not give notifications, they haven't even been delivered. Since it's a thread of messages, I wonder if they have a limit of the size of email communications between members? We finally gave up and just exchanged personal email addresses.

I still get notified, occasionally, that someone either liked a comment or added to a thread from years ago. They were so long ago it's like going back to a different time in my life. Windows, carpeting, chipmunk problems. I get a kick out of them.

Wow, I just checked and there were two messages I’d never seen. Part of my problem is that I signed up here with an email account I rarely check. Maybe I can change that.

I finally got one message from the other member whose messages weren't coming through. It took about 5 days. So don't rely on houzz to communicate with other members. I didn't get a notification that I had a new message, like I used to.
