In my opinion, a crystal chandelier is too formal and elegant for modern farmhouse style.

Perhaps you can still have crystals, but in a less formal style, especially with being used in a foyer

You might be able to pull it off. It depends on the other elements you have selected for the space.

Yes, but... what if you took away the gorgeous windows and the charming beams overhead? Could this be pulled off as successfully in a much simpler space sans interesting architectural features? As with that photo (which is indeed beautiful), do you think it's the sum of the parts that might not be as effective without them?
