I have a large white oak in my yard that I'm keeping hope alive. It was green last summer, and never lost its leaves in the winter. It still has all the old leaves attached, except on two branches where it grew new, green leaves. I watched buds grew on the tips of branches, but they never leafed out. I've noticed a few small bore holes around the bottom of the trunk. Am I passed the point of no return or is there hope the tree will live?
