I put dog hair around plants that they like to nibble.

Do you actually find that does anything? Because the rabbits around here seem to love to hang out in our dogs' potty area (it's a problem ... dogs aren't supposed to eat bunny poo).

I find out it works both for rabbits and deer. Both don't like dogs. Animals will become accustomed to an area if they realize there is no threat and food is available. If your fenced in, when you see a bunny let the dogs out to chase them . They will soon learn it isn't a safe area.

I am allergic to dogs, so can't use dog hair.

Yes, that will work. Once they're older, the rabbits lose interest.
