Booster Club Fundraising during Covid -19??

I am trying to come up with some fundraising ideas for our boys HS soccer team. We have raised $ in the past by doing car washes, local restaurant promotions, selling ads to sponsors for, and home game concessions.

We really don't know how the season will play out but we think there will be a season (at least we are planning for a season). If there is a season there may be no spectators allowed so no program to hand out with the sponsor info, no gate revenue, and no concession revenue. We will still need to cover transportation to away games and player meals after away games. The booster also pay for the end of season banquet (if that happens) and gifts for the seniors along with trying to off-set the cost to parent's of the players.

It's unlikely that our concession stand will operate and it was a big $ generator for us. We were planning a Trivia Night but that won't be happening now. We did a Super Bowl block pool last year that was very successful but that also may not happen if NFL does not have a season.

I think we could still do the car wash since it's outside and the boys can wear masks and it would be nearly touch-less for the person in the car.

So far I have come up with a Fall Bulb fundraiser and possibly an outdoor Scavenger Hunt consisting of small teams with an outdoor meeting at the end to determine the winner.

If anyone has any ideas or has done successful fundraiser that can be tweaked to work during Covid-19 I would love to hear them.

Thx!

Online auction with donated items, or an online cake (goodies) auction.

Our neighborhood association does online trivia contests. It may work for your group, too. Good luck!

Our high school music program has been having all kinds of fundraisers for years--the one that worked best was an online fundraiser where kids and parents spammed everyone they knew with requests. It was awful, but it worked. The online business took a large chunk that was not disclosed to donors. It seemed sort of a scam but they did end up making more money than ever before. (After seeing how our largeish donation was added to the running total in a much reduced form, we canceled our donation and made it directly to the program.)

It turns out people are happy to donate and don't even need something in return. And once you itemize how much stuff actually costs, people think, "oh, ****!! I had no idea!!"

I think a group can cobble together a similar online fundraiser without the third party taking a cut. Have the kids do videos--sad mopey videos of them in their own lonely homes :)--explaining why their old fundraisers won't work. Put it on a web page with a list of expenses and suggested ways to make payments (check, paypal, credit?)...

But whatever method, online begging really does work.

One of our organizations did something like that, eld, but they made it look like a proper invitation to a "stay home ball". "You are cordially invited to stay home" You could not-reserve a table for $xx, not-go to the salon for $x, not-hire a sitter for $x, etc. All done in the calligraphy of a formal event. I don't know how much they made, but it sure was funny.

Rory, I like the car wash, it's probably the easiest event.

I wonder if you could sell box lunches as a fundraiser for the kids or for the families? Do you think they'll let families hang out in their cars in the parking lot? Our non-school games were held on a pitch with no stands, families brought their own chairs or sat on the ground, and we actually stayed pretty distant lol. I wondered if your league could do the same?

Hand out one program at the beginning of the season with the sponsor names.

Eld6161...that is so funny and I wish my kids would have brought that home for a fundraiser. It is so “ honest”.

Our high school did one like that, Eld, but without the humor. Even so, we appreciated it.
