RTA cabinets that can be designed and ordered online

We were supposed to start our kitchen remodel in 2 weeks. We made arrangements to be out of the house for the first 3 weeks so we didn’t have to be home for the worst of the demo and dust. This plan was based on getting IKEA cabinets. We have the design, the shopping list etc. but their supply chain is backed up and we can’t even find out until July 20th when they will be available again.

So, now I’m trying to figure out a backup plan that could have the cabinets at our house in about 4 weeks.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a cabinet company - probably RTA that is similar price to Ikea ($5500) for our small/medium kitchen and that does an online design service?

If you have a different suggestion that would still meet the criteria I would be interested to hear that as well.

There is a local cabinet company that would work, but their product feels cheap. While I am trying to keep budget and time in mind, I want to make sure the quality will last at least 20 years.

i know ikea will because that’s my current kitchen and it made it to 20.

Scherr's used to have a pretty good reputation and they were nice to work with. I don't know if they are still good (I have no reason to think they aren't--I just haven't looked for cabinets lately!) and I suspect they are more expensive than IKEA, but not hugely so.

Four weeks might be pushing it for any cabinet company, though. Even in pre-pandemic times, that's asking for a lot.

You don’t change your design plan for this. You change your timeline.

For info on RTA cabinets, use the search box above. The top three are Barker, Scherr’s and Conestoga via the Cabinet Joint. You will not get design services from Barker.

Does IKEA have the basic boxes in stock that you need? If they have these, I think you could go ahead with the preliminary install and then just put on the fronts etc. when they arrive in stock.

If all of the boxes are out of stock, then that's a very different story. In that case, I am in agreement with eam44 in that your better bet, disappointing as it may be, is probably to just change your timeline.

The boxes from Ikea are out too unfortunately. you may be right about needing to change my timeline. it is unfortunate though because this summer we can be away from home, but once school starts back up, we won't be able to have such flexibility. oh well, if there is anything we are all learning this year is the need to pivot and be flexible

I know this thread is old but wanted to post for newer people who are considering Cabinet Joint:

PLEASE DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY unless you want damaged cabinets and no support!

My cabinets came cracked and damaged. They just left my damaged cabinets on the streets of Manhattan without calling me beforehand. Some of the items are not sized correctly and they do not tell you that.

Cabinet Joint is very badly run and will not offer support if things go wrong. Over half of my cabinets came with damage (See pictures of examples - there are more than 25 cracks on the cabinets) and the customer has to figure this out themselves.

Cabinet Joint is extremely unwilling to help and want to place all the blame on their shipping company. See other reviews who have said the same thing on Google.

My cabinets coach was dismissive, condescending and passive aggressive in handling my situation when the majority of my cabinets arrived damaged. The owners want me to edit my reviews so they can hide my bad experience. Instead of helping me, the owner just said that I had "heightened emotions" and told me to edit my review.

These are how my cabinets were delivered on the street:
