About four feet tall, with a raceme of lavender bells? There were more blooms. As you can see, it's past its prime.

It is a Campanula. I hope it is not C. rapunculoides.

Unfortunately it looks like it. Most dreaded Campanula rapunculoides.

I just read up on it. Is it invasive in New York? I have a creeping campanula that’s low. This isn’t the same plant I assume..

It may not have reached invasive status in NY but it is extremely aggressive and difficult to eradicate. I would suggest you save yourself a major issue and get rid of it now. It has a deep taproot and any missed piece will start again. It spreads by rhizomes and by seed (copious amounts of seed). It was an uninvited thug.

There are some wonderful low C. such as carpatica, poscharskyana, portenschlagiana.
