So I have until Friday to approve the template. It's supposedly laid

on top of my actual slabs...

I paid $250 for this luxury before they cut the stone [my last fabricator did not charge me and hindsight should have stuck with them but these folks were in the town I'm building and 'so nice'....good reviews and price...].

Not sure what I am even looking at. No cutouts for sinks cooktop shown. And the 2 slabs on sink wall [where the seam is] don't seem to match ?

What can I do at this point to make sure it's the best it can be. It is brushed Nero Orion. I will have a Kraus undermount on sink wall and a prep one in island.

I'll also put a layout of kitchen.

They also told me they don't do flush mount but will do a reveal. Anything I should specify there? Thanks.

Thanks.

Trish

Based on this your stone doesn't have much movement just some shading? Do you have pictures of the slab that you took? The long piece is the sink run and they centered the seam on the sink which is good- the shortest amount of seam.

I only have the pic of the front slab they are from the same cut.

Way back in 2010 I don't think sink seams were as popular. I have a busy granite in this house and they did the seam in the corner. I think it's pretty good and don't notice. My fear is if it's a bad seam I will see it all the time as you're at the sink more than any other location typically besides island [thankfully no seam needed there I guess].

Sink seams are the shortest and most broken up. Most people want the least seam, if you want a long seam a foot to one side of the sink or the other they can do that but to me that would be far more visible. Every kitchen is a little different.

I am fine with sink seam if it's done well. I am wondering about color variation. Is that not concerning? Thanks.

If the slab on the left is rotated 180 degrees, it seems to have a better color match:

Are you saying your fabricator charged you $250 to be there for the slab layout for the template?

So, for anyone reading this thread, that is not normal or usual. It should be part of the fabrication process, no extra fee.

@Shannon_WI yes it's very odd. I actually don't even get to be there. They only send me pictures and I get to help make decisions. Didn't know about it beforehand and it's definitely shady. But I am where I am. Hindsight questions to ask. I assumed it would be a similar to the experience with the other fabricator [who I should have gone with but I was trying to 'go local' in my new town other company is an hour away in a bigger city]....

They do have good reviews and have been helpful this part is just odd...it's a smaller town and they do it the way they do it kind of thing if that makes sense...ran into same issue with my pool and am kind of learning the quirks of 'small town' life.

I am praying they will do a good job and it will just be an odd part of the experience.
