Please advise how to correct my pruning mistake

I'm still low on the learning curve here with my climbing roses. I had heard so often about how tough and forgiving roses are about pruning that I just went to town. Then I learned that one must never ever prune main canes, only laterals! So now what do I do with the shortened main canes? Take them out altogether? Or will they regrow? In case it matter, here are the specific roses I butchered: Zepherine Drouhin, Florentina, Dublin Bay, Generous Gardener, Madame Isaac Pereire, and Lavender Lassie. I'm eager to untie all of them from their supports (French tree guards) and start over but can I do this now? Some are fairly defoliated with black spot.

Thank you!
