What do I do with the front of my new house??

We need to replace the siding and do SOMETHING this this small, slanted front yard dirt patch. I think I want rose bushes in dirt patch. I usually feel very confident about what I want, but I am at a loss. I considered just replacing the cedar with a more durable cedar shake look, but then I think I could make it a totally different fresh new house with new siding. I like a dark blue. I like the idea of a farmhouse style white with black accents. I'd love a rendering, but I do not know how to go about doing that. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Creative geniuses!

I like the cedar on your house. You could consider extending the look on the garage.

might also consider a different door style and maybe different color.

I would also suggest a modern approach to landscaping.

Lighting around house and on grounds.

If you would like to see how different ideas could look on your house, I recommend this company.

What explains why stone at the back of the left bed is missing and lattice seemingly is supposed to (but not really) hold the soil? (The right bed might be like this, too. We can't see it well.)

Solving the biggest landscape problem first, there seems to be a desperate need for at least one shade tree at each bed. The second biggest problem seems to be a need for groundcover of some type covering the soil of each bed. You could find a spot for roses, but they alone are not going to solve either of the two big problems.

I can see your house in dark blue. Below is Kensington Blue. I would change the siding to a wide plank lap siding.

I would have decorative concrete block edge the deck so the dirt doesn't get under it. I would plant ever blooming roses and some low growing evergreens with lots of space between plants. You might want to install a watering system.

I think you have a very charming house! Love the cedar! Wouldn't change a thing. If this was my house I would try to repair the cedar if that's what the problem is. Trying to give this house a farmhouse look would be a mistake since the architecture is not farmhouse. If you are looking for drama, perhaps you could paint all the white trim charcoal including the garage door. Before you make any design decisions on your house, you should first tackle the landscaping. I think what's making you indecisive is the stone wall. I find it very curious. Why is it there? The wall on both sides seems to encroach on your driveway making it narrower than it needs to be. And there is no real sidewalk, just the driveway. I am a really big fan of stone walls but this one doesn't make sense. So I think I would get rid of it. From there I would definitely add a wide walkway leading to your front door, add a couple big trees with gardens below, add grass and when funds become available, add a few really BIG rocks in a grouping. Plant one of the trees so that you have shade for your patio area. As for what to plant, get advice from a local nursery. Often they will draw up a landscaping plan for your yard at not cost if you buy the plants and trees from them. After you have your landscaping figured out, then decide what you want to do with the house. Like I said, I think it's very cool and painting the trim charcoal would make it cooler. Also consider painting your front door a colour other than brown, white or charcoal. Almost any colour would work.

Is the whole house cedar? I wouldn't try to turn a contemporary into a farmhouse. I like the idea of a dark blue for the body with the front bumpout clad in cedar board and batten. Then have the front door and garage door gel stained to look like wood.

    How about this

You guys! This is so much more response than I could have hoped for. I am feeling super inspired! I have never had a house that I needed to redo the entire exterior look. What has me most hopeful is that with beautiful landscaping, we do not need to remove the stone. The stone looks like quite an eyesore right now.
