What colors are your walls and other furnishings in the room?

Light colors if you want a softer feeling to the room and blend gently with the walls. Darker color if you want to dramatize the windows and make them a focal point to the room and balance other dark colors used in the room.

The fireplace and crown molding is white, walls will be something like rosetta (maybe), furniture is off white, olive green and drapes possible warm stripes with rings and rods. I do have bay window. The thought of match stick wood shades came to me when visiting Design Center and they had very light fine wood shades. I really liked this look but wondered if the dark wood would call for dark matchstick shade, however the Hunter Douglas only has 2 shades in the very small match stick and this is a dark brown or linen. A lighter shade would definately soften the room and compliment your lighter furnishings. The Hunter Douglas woven woods line has so many beautiful options to choose from and several colors and patterns that will coordinate with your walls andfurnishings. If you go with the woven woods in a small match stick, then I'd considered a solid drape so you don't have competing patterns - horizontal stripe on the shades and vertical stripe on the panels.
