Cute house. The two easiest things to do would be to paint the front door a bright color and add some base plantings between the two large shrub/trees under t he double window. Oh, and move the ladder, it doesn't work with the rest of the house (LOL!).

Darling house. I would add shutters, window boxes, trim the trees shorter or move them and plants flowers and smaller shrubs.

I wonder if it has been resided?

I think it would look pretty painted a lovely yellow, a sage green, or a gray scheme. The double windows should not have shutters.

All you need us landscaping. I would remove the two bushes and plant them elsewhere.

i would remove all the planters on your stoop and put a nice bench under the little window.

Yes to a different color for the door.

Here is a house painted in colors I can see on your house. Since you don't have brackets you could paint the window mullions blue.

The siding is Benjamin Moore's Weekend Getaway, the white is Cloud Nine and I believe the blue is Newburg Green

Also, I would paint your porch and steps a light gray.

Reminds me of my grandmother's house, I loved that home! She always had geraniums lining the walk way in a beautiful classic red, her door matched :^) She pulled them up at the end of the season and replanted in Spring.

You have a very charming house! But you are correct, it needs something. If this was my home I would add tons of white trim to the exterior. Big trim on the corners and around windows & doors. I’m not fond of the circular part above your front door. I would remove it. I would then install a different siding in the 2 large peaks and have a big piece of horizontal trim separating the 2 sidings. The siding within the peaks could be scalloped, or board & batten, or smaller and vertical, there’s lots of options out there. Also remove the storm door (I’m one of those anti-storm door people). Also, I wouldn’t go too crazy with landscaping. What you already have will grow and fill in.

What about an awning or some kind of overhang over the front door?

IMO some type of bay window in the front with a matching canopy over the door would add dimension to your home. Keep most of your shrubs below the level of the window sill if they are close to the house.
