Looks almost like poplar, and dovetails are jig cut. Older production or semi-production piece. Not much design merit, use and enjoy as a family heirloom, but it has little to no collectible value.

The style looks like Biedermeier. Try showing the whole front, then the sides and back. Its simplicity will fit in well with modern decor. Google "biedermeier chest with teardrop pull" for images of furniture with similar characteristics.

Looks like a very nice piece. I would have guessed maple but I'm not a pro. Could you try taking pics without the flash in natural light so that the grain is easier to see?

I'm no expert, but it looks to me like a standard factory-made (perhaps Grand Rapids) turn of the century piece with maybe a flamed mahogany veneer. It's too difficult to see the wood grain in your photos.

I was going to guess mahogany veneer. Very handsome.

the inside drawer bottoms are a ribbon mahogany. I don't think the exterior is mahogany. it's too light. could be elm.

For sure not oak--not even close. Maple is the most likely if it was originally a piece of any value.
