Outdoor hippeastrum in Colorado Summer!

I put all my hippe bulbs outside for the Summer. Most I left in their nursery pots but a few I put in some of my larger containers where I grow perennials. I'm so pleased that one has decided to give me a Summer bloom. I don't have the name of this one. My aunt gave it to me after the holiday season was over and she didn't keep the name. So I am not sure what it is. But no matter, it's beautiful! And such a pleasant surprise in Colorado.

Nice! I put mine out every summer and occasionally get a bloom, but not this year alas. That one really pops. Love your ? rudbeckia as well!

Thank you! Last year I had only one bloom too, an Aphrodite. I have about 8 bulbs out for the Summer. Not a very high percentage. But one is better than none. And last year, I had really good success with rebloom in the Winter after the Summer outside.

That rudbekia is an annual one, but reseeds itself readily in the large pots I have out there.

It's always nice to have a summer bloom. That looks like the Santiago cultivar to me

Thanks Will for the ID! My aunt is not so great at keeping the ID tags. I did manage to tag the Papillio bulbs that she had. I am looking forward to seeing those bloom one day!
