Need Help! Kitchen Cabinet Color blend w/White Dove Trim

last modified: 5 years ago

Hi! I am looking for your advice! We are having our kitchen updated with new doors and need to choose a kitchen cabinet color. The trim/doors throughout are painted BM White Dove - I have considered going with the same color, but think we need to go a with a brighter white since there will be so much? Any recommendations on colors that have similar undertone that will work well? Other elements pretty neutral - subway tile backsplash/Spring Carnival Laminate Counters and Floors will be wood tone. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Is this anew to you space ? If it is I would wait to do anything for a bit. The kitchen has some layout issues that I can see and new doors will ccost almost as much as new cabinets for Ikea with so much better storage than what you have . I would do white dove if you are keeping those cabinets to keep it simple.

The White Dove trim really doesn't butt up to your cabinets, so you'll be fine.

look at Simply White. It's a shade brighter than white dove. White Dove is a lot 'dingier' looking. I did my walls with it and didn't like it. I repainted w/Simply White.

I had my cabs refaced and painted with it

Oxford White would be another good pick.

btw, to get new doors and drawer fronts (and I have 3X as much as you do) was only an extra 2K. (I used 60 handles just to give you an idea of how many cabinets I have) My cabs were custom build and solid wood, so I wasn't looking to replace the cabinets. the reface was a perfect solution.

make sure you get a full overlay so you won't have exposed hinges. Oh, I also got all of the soft close european hinges w/my new doors/drawers.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting We moved in almost two years ago... unfortunately we had to immediately replace counters and back splash due to major issues with sink/counters that were here. I tried to keep an open mind and embrace the oak - but just couldn't do it so we are now doing things out of sync. Our kitchen guy is fixing some issues with doors/drawers running into the stove and swapping the pantry with the fridge to increase available space for larger fridge (currently in odd location and only fits 34"). He said our cabinets are really solid/well constructed so worthwhile to use rather than yanking everything and cost was reasonable compared to others we spoke with. Thank you the input!

@Beth H. :The one color I had looked at was Simply White - was just not sure of undertone so thank you! I will also look at Oxford White for comparison. Thank you for sharing the pic of your kitchen - that is exactly what we are doing with the new doors and soft close HIDDEN hinges! We replaced all the hinges/hardware when we moved in but anxious too have them gone and an updated/brighter kitchen! Thank you!
