Looking for backsplash and pendant lighting suggestions!

We are starting to update our kitchen and need some backsplash ideas! I feel with the warm tones of the cabinets and countertop, stark white would not look good. Any thoughts? Also, we want to update the pendant lights. Suggestions welcome!

Are you keeping or changing the wall color?

You already have a backsplash. It that 4 inch piece of granite. Will you be removing it when you tile?

personally, I would keep things as is. I can’t find a suitable color in the counter to pull from. You could do a creamy white but I’m not sure how that would relate to the counter.

We are going to keep the wall color and the granite on the wall. I call the title on the wall “backsplash” but yes, we are looking to tile. The wall between the stove and the microwave gets pretty messy with splashing from cooking and we really want something to make clean up easier than scrubbing the wall.

Also, as a side note, the color is called Comfort Gray by Sherwin Williams. It looks more blue in the pictures but this is the swatch.

don't tile the walls if you are going to keep that 4" of granite. that looks bad.

you can pry off that 4" piece.

are you willing to do that? If not, don't tile. w/that busy tile, tiling on top of it will look horrible.

Ok, say we take off the 4in piece of granite, anyone have ideas on what tile would look good on the walls?

We are just looking for tile. I understand people don’t want the piece that is already there, ignoring that aspect and acting as if it wasn’t there, any suggestions?

I think you're right to shy away from stark white. or any white for that matter. this is no white anywhere in that kitchen. I wouldn't do a white subway tile of any kind. (at the bottom I posted a very creamy glazed brick tile that could work, but you'd have to get some samples. )

just to show you how ugly it is to tile on top of the back piece, and with these 2x4 white tiles, ugh.

Baltic brown has the darker earthier tones.

you could try basalt tiles (home depot carries them) or even black slate

or maybe one like this w/the dark grout. this is a ceramic tile. (Tilebar) love the black outlets too. install under cabinet lighting if you don't have it already. coupled w/your wood cabs, this would be a striking combo

black zellige tiles in the 4x4

Cloe has the 4x4 (I think lowes carries the Cloe line shown here in the subway tile)

you could also do an Ivory travertine (as long it's it's the nice creamy white and not the pink tone)

the color looks like this. they have it in subway tiles too

this is probably the number one backsplash tile w/Baltic Brown. it's difficult to find any other type of tile used w/this granite

Tilebar.com has many tiles in your color range. you get 5 samples for $5. This is Nabi Sea Wind

Diff granite, but same coloring, more or less. basalt, black slate, Navi, and some sand color tiles.

want a coppery glass tile? Horizons by Dal Tile in Driftwood

Glazed brick from Cle'Tile The bottom one is Parchment. more of a creamier tone that might work w/your stone. if you want a white color, choose an ivory or very creamy white

if you go w/the darker black tiles (which I think is a winner w/your wood cabs) paint the surrounding walls a creamy white

First let me say what a beautiful kitchen! My thoughts are you can’t go wrong with a subway tile either ceramic, glass or marble - in an ivory or rich cream. There are so many color options! Whatever you choose the simpler the better and make that beautiful island the star!
