Good outdoor entertainment system - advice

My aunt has a bigger house (actually it's a huge villa) and the last weekend we stayed there for the whole weekend and talked also about the house because she want's to change some stuff...especially the entertainment system outside. She asks me always about the technical stuff because I work in this area (informatics) and she kind of wants my personal opinion - searching for an advice. But then she asked me about an outdoor TV/entertainment system. They have this nice chilling area outside and she wants there a big TV. But in this case I couldn't help her that much, because I don't know about new, modern and big outdoor TVs. But I promised her to get some information about this and let her know.

So, here I am searching for some information...but instead of just googling, this time I would like personal opinion of people who have maybe this kind of big (more than 100 inch) outdoor TVs or have seen them/know somebody who has etc etc... Thanks in advance ;)

I have already visited two houses that had a very large TV in the outdoor area. It was of course a highlight to see the television coming out of the ground. When it spread out, you could see how huge the screen is. You had a perfect view of the TV from the pool and the barbecue area and there were boxes for the sound all over the garden. That rounded off the entertainment system. That really impressed me and was a new entertaiment experience for me. Otherwise I only knew the normal (outdoor) TVs with or without a cover as described by bry911. If I had the choice, I would always put such a TV in the garden instead of the normal outdoor TVs.

Thanks to you two! @bry911 Very well explained and I have a good idea now of the possibilities. The money is not really a problem for my aunt (she's got enough :D ) so as I know her, she wants very high quality and the design is very important too. That, and the big size, are the 3 mayor requisites she told me when I was there. So the first option is a good one, because the others with the cover/enclosure will not be perfect for her (as she is very careful with the design).

@Stefan Pachomyus: Could you explain this system in more detail? What do you mean with "spreading out"? Was this a DIY entertainment system?

I don't know how to post videos or if it is desirable. Google for C-Seed TV. Then you will see what I meant. Pictures say more than a thousand words.

This is a professional company. They install the TV. This is not a DIY project :) Would probably be very difficult for a layman to realize this project if you see the pictures.

In my opinion, the advantage of such a TV is also that it doesn't have to be near the house or you need a wall to hang it up. It can stand freely in the garden and only comes out of its "garage" when it is needed.

Thanks Stefan for the answer. I found the c-seed page and I am definitely impressed of the TVs and the technique. Never saw a huge TV coming out of the ground and folding up...didn't even know that something like that exists. A system like that is installed by some engineers from the same company or does one have to install it on its own (or hire some other company which knows about that stuff)? Next time I talk to my aunt I will tell her also about this system and as I know her, she will be interested in more details.

Cseed televisions are a bit ridiculous. They run about $700,000 installed. However, they do have a new one coming out for only $1.5 million.

    A fool and his money...

Don't know if your aunt is into music, but a friend recommended this 8.1 in-ground speaker system.

As far as I know, they install their products themselves. C-Seed does it all.

You have to decide for yourself whether it is worth it to you. Such an entertainment system is also an upgrade for the whole house. If you want to sell the house on at some point, that is certainly a point that distinguishes the house from others. You just have to decide for yourself whether it's the right thing for you. Only you will be able to decide.

I just wanted to bring it in because it fascinated me the first time I saw the TV. It's very impressive.

Music system would also be an idea. Possibly with the speakers in the floor or not visible.

It is not entertainment, but nice lighting also gives something and enhances the property. Add to that beautiful plants and at night everything looks great when everything is lit.

Another option is to eschew the installation of anything electronic and use the great chillin' area outside to enhance human interaction, conversation, connection, bonding, visiting, making memories....

Thanks for your answeres. @traciel: I will have a look on this audio system too, looks also interesting. @Stefan Pachomyus: Ok, thanks for the answer and the information about the installation of the whole TV. You are right, such an investment increases also the value of the whole property. And it surely is some different kind of entertainment system. With the adequate decoration, and some plants around (as you said) this can look very good. @Charles Ross Homes: I understand your point. But one choice does not exclude the other. They have a lot of space there and use it for a lot of social stuff. My aunt wants to add this as an extra. Shes also a musician and they have several smaller concerts with friends and other musician there at the same place....and she really likes this social events and more than often there are family reunions at her house.

I can see what you mean @Charles Ross Homes. But I think a TV in the garden doesn't have to exclude communication. Then you just meet in the garden and watch a football game or watch a movie together. You can meet up with the whole family or invite friends over. I think it doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. It's more of a meeting point, you're not spread out all over the house, which can also improve communication. For me a television doesn't mean that I have to use it 24/7. So there is still enough time to do other things.

Some update: I have been the other weekend at my aunts house and we talked also about this and I showed her the ideas I got and also the c-seed Tvs (thanks again for this @Stefan) and also the audio system proposed from @traciel...also a big thanks. She liked the ideas a lot and was very interested in the outdoor TV system as the design would fit into the outdoor entertainment area. @Stefan: Do you have any idea how long it takes to install such a TV and about delivery times? As this are not classic TVs one can buy in an electronics shop, are they ordered at the companies homepage?

Unfortunately I don't have such a TV, so I can't give you any precise information. At least I can only read what is on their homepage. If you've really made a decision, I would get in touch with them. They'll definitely give you a lot more first-hand information. Write down all your questions so that you can then ask them all. But I don't think that installation will take long, for example. Dig a hole and lay cables. This will differ depending on the surface and space available. What I've read about it is that they do everything themselves. In other words, production, installation and also the entire service after installation. So I would say that the company is your first point of contact and that you can also order the TV via them.

Ok, thanks for the answer. My aunt wanted to contact them personally and I think she did it already this days and told them her ideas and asked about the installation. She will inform me if this system will be installed at her house. Would be nice to see it one day in action. Actually I hope that she decides to install it hahaha Thanks again for your answer...it was very helpful
