A bar area is unlikely to make or break a home sale -- extra storage or some other use could be just as appealing. Make it into something you'll find useful; if you can keep the plumbing by capping it off, you leave the flexibility for the future.

Where is this wet bar? In a family room? In a basement? In the living room? Location will make a difference.

In certain locales (well away from the regular kitchen) it could be nice to have just as a extra sink and fridge for regular family living. In other locales (like right in the living room off the kitchen ) it could be redundant unless you are big entertainers.

I appreciate the input. The bar is located off the living room. So, it's not right next to the kitchen. People will need to pass through the living room to get to the bar. We plan on installing a beverage fridge under the cabinet, if we were to leave it as a bar area.

Wet bars are no longer “in style”. I do not see them coming back in style.

hi Jim, we plan on living there, and would probably get more use out of the beverage cooler than any wine storage. However, the best laid plans need to change sometimes, and I want to be prepared in case we need to sell the house unexpectedly. Hence my question.

Well, do I remodel based on selling, or do I remodel based on living “here”.

Are you able to ask neighbors, local realtors what there preferences are?
