Looking for Wall Decor help in new bathroom

We have just completed a complete remodel on our main bathroom. I love it. BUT I am having difficulty deciding what or if I should put on the walls. I had framed 4 photographs I took in Paris that I love and they fit in...but do I want them? My original thought had been to put one on each side of the window and the other two on the big bare shower wall (I did a wall instead of glass for my shower and I LOVE IT!!!). Is there enough going on? Do i put nothing on the walls? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Or if you have thoughts of other items? I had seen a large macrame hanging I thought might look nice on the shower wall - BUT, i don't want to have the room cluttered looking but I also want it to look finished. Thanks. (P.S. I have played around with the items on that shelf by the tub and it looks much better now)

I vote for the Paris photos.

I would group all of the Paris photos on the shower wall - or the wall hanging. YOu don't need anything else - except maybe a big fluffy white rug in front of the vanity.

I don't understand the shelf by your tub, nor many of the other items. Less is more. Move the plant to the opposite corner, remove the shelf, and add towels that blend well together - then you're set!

The shelf is staying as it is drilled into the wall and matches the walnut vanity. Towels are only out when in use and I've used hooks instead of towel bars - towel bar towels don't tend to be used and I didn't want to clutter up the space with that. The floor is heated so no rug necessary (and I love the tile). What other items are you speaking of? THe plant to the opposite corner? so you mean to switch places with the laundry basket that is in the other corner?

Beth H...you wish the plant was higher (it will grow) or the plant stand? I have been questioning the floor candles - I love them and purchased them while the renovation was underway so wasn't sure if they would work so have been moving them in and out to see what I think. Which basket do you mean - the one in the opposite corner to plant? its a laundry basket for dirty towels so needs to stay to serve a useful purpose. I had a loofah on the shelf....my husband made me remove it as it would damage the walnut shelf. It was my original intent for that shelf to be practical for tub items but he didn't really listen to what i was saying when he told the vanity people what we wanted....so the shelf isn't as useful as I hoped - so it just has to be pretty. :)

lol..if that loofah scratches a piece of walnut that has a good varnish on it, then what the heck is it going to do to your skin??? (coat the walnut shelf with 100% pure tung oil, not a poly) I have a teak shelf in my shower w/a varnish.

I know the snake plant will grow, but they aren't fast growers. I just meant get something w/a little more height in that corner just to give some vertical balance to the space. Just an example of raising it. doesn't have to be this style. maybe he could make you a walnut plant holder?

It's a cute space, it really is. If the basket must stay there, then take up the floor candles. I just think w/too many 'things' around the tub, it starts to look messy and cluttered. and you do to or you wouldn't posted to ask for advice!

can you put the basket against the wall by the shower?

thanks....i will play around with the basket. I guess it wasn't really in my "issue" thought box but I knew I was opening myself up to other suggestions when I posted lol. THe shelf....well back to the "he wasn't listening". Its not the scratching its the water damage...i thought it was going to be like a piece of real walnut wood but its been made out of the same as the vanity. He didn't realize I had a "useful" purpose for it...it is what it is.

I understand about the plant and you are correct. I thought this size would be good once I put pictures up....but now that it seems I shouldn't be putting pictures up I may have to invest in a larger plant.

But to my original question - should I put something on that bare shower wall?

"What other items are you speaking of?" The basket and the candles should be moved elsewhere. Put the plant in the corner by the shelf. If the basket has to stay, can it go near the shower wall (not in the corner?)

When you asked, "Is there enough going on?" and "Any suggestions would be appreciated" it opened your post up to suggestions. To answer only about the walls - place either the four pictures, grouped, on the shower wall OR the macramé piece. That's all you need.

I like the macrame. I said that in my first comment. I think it would look nice on that bare wall.

In the bathroom, I think about all that floats around after each flush. For that reason — just a personal preference — I only want fabrics and textiles, flat surfaces that can and would be washed regularly

Such a pretty space! I am a lover of all things Paris--so I would put those beautiful France photos front and center--2 on each side of the window (1 on top of each other on each side of the window).

If I were in the tub, I'd rather be looking at Paris than at a bunch of string!
