Need help with trim color

We just bought this house a few months ago and want to liven it up. The siding is cedar and was just stained this orangey color not long before we bought it. I’m not a fan of the orange, but we really don’t have time to paint the house and would rather leave that. What color should paint the trim and porch? I’m leaning towards a dark grey but wanted to get some input before I put all the time and effort into it.

Is the roof brownish? How about that color? Or even a soft black.

I think your instincts are correct that the trim needs to be a different color. At first glance, it appears that a bucket of paint was simply thrown over the whole house.

Are the windows vinyl or are they paintable?

They are vinyl. We will be needing to replace them in the next few years and will match the color to whatever trim color we choose.

Here’s the side of the house. We will be painting the garage doors to match the trim we choose also.

The roof is brownish, but we also need to replace that soon. The garage doors and deck are currently dark brown and I think they look dated. I like the idea of a soft black. Thank you!
