help with my boring living room!

Hi there! I need help adding some finishing pieces to my living room. It is in dire need of some wall art and decorative accents. But i have no clue where to start!

I think part of my struggle is that I have to put my sofa under my window because it is too long to put anywhere else. Ideally, i would love to have my sofa on my back wall but I need to put my tv there because it’s one of the view outlets that work lol. I will add some pieces that I bought and am waiting to be delivered. But yeah! I am open to ideas. The vibe I’m going for is just a neutral, natural space.

I love to prune! First I have to keep them alive!🥺

Yes! It's fun to see your plants are happy and healthy

Is your olive tree real? (I’m sorry if you’ve already answered this.) I think I could handle something that size, and it seems it would fit with some of my treasures from the Mediterranean.

It’s actually a faux one! My pothos and smaller plants are real. My cats like to climb things so I would rather have them destroy a faux tree as opposed to a real one haha

The olive tree is by nearly natural

😜Taylor. Thank you for the info.

I’m going to buy a coffee table tonight or tomorrow. The horizontal width of my sofa is 56 inches. How long should my coffee table be?

I LOVE this coffee table but I know it would be too long :(

I mean to say, the horizantal part of my sofa not including the actual sectional of my sofa is 56 inches. The width of my entire sectional is around 84 inches or so

    48-52” long depending on style.

Do you think the table i posted above would work for the space? Or would i need something a little smaller

Some options all under $300 ea. Good sizing.

Love the one on the bottom right!

    edited for brevity...

I like that style of coffee table, but in addition to being too long, I think you may need something that provides better contrast with your area rug.

Thank you that is Very helpful! I was also thinking about getting a black table. I like this one from target. I might be selling my tv console to my friend so if I do then I plan on getting this one

The console is longer than the one i have now so it will take up more space on my wall

That coffee table would work really well that console! It’s from Target too!

    Omg yes!!

Flo, that IS a cool table. But it’s 50” long. Maybe my brain is not working tonight? Her sofa seat length, not including the chaise, is only 56”. What am I missing???

Here is idea of how it would look. I might have misunderstood but I thought the length of cushion was 56”. So 50” for inside can work. Especially with 84 total length if sofa. But you can stack up boxes to the size and see if the volume fits. You might like smaller or round. I just tend to prefer larger coffee tables. Like surfaces to style!

Opps. I put the new console in too.

Also, not sure how close the extra chair is. So need to make sure of course.

Here is another round one similar styling. 36” round with a drawer which is nice for stowing those remote controls etc.

I’ve never had a chaise, but I thought you would want to walk between the chaise and the sofa. Maybe not. How do you get in and out?

Trying to answer my own question here...I looked back at images Beth had posted early on. So maybe you don’t have the coffee table centered or within reach? This looks great.

I have similar sofa/chaise. I put round coffee table. It’s ok but next house no sofa/chaise but sofa and super large coffee table. It is very hard to use the chaise. But that’s just me.

I love that round coffee table Flo! That might be the winner

Hey, your room looks great, but in my opinion it lacks a bit of life, wouldn't you say? I think a couple of well placed plants would be nice. If you are not a plant person, I know, it's a pain, I am same.

However, they really help with aesthetics, as well as provide some fresh air. Putting a couple of snake plants in the living room corners looked pretty great, I won't lie.

It took me some time to find what I would like. Eventually I found that there are a lot of houseplants you can easily grow in a short time, which is perfect for me because I am kind of lazy to take care of my plants :D

Glad you like that round one. Since you have a lot of straight lines, it will help soften things up while still staying true to your styling.

I definitely plan on getting some artwork and decor John! I just moved in a week and a half ago so I’m slowly getting there. Now that i have a job again I still be able to buy a couple of pieces at a time

This is kinda the vibe I am going for. Excluding artwork. I still need to work on that

Love the black added to your beautiful, neutral palette.

I love black accessories. Not sure about black coffee table. Mine is dust magnet! I also always lean to multi-purpose pieces. Storage is always a plus. Guess from moving so much, multi purpose helps in any setting.

That’s a good point! And my cats accumulate a lot of hair too. Maybe i should stick with a wood one

Perhaps sharing some designs with you will help you figure out how to make your living room less boring.

Oh! Good point about fighting dust and cat hair on a black coffee table. The round table Flo found does have a black base, so that should pop on your area rug, right? That drawer is a great feature, too. I’m loving your room! (And although the images from Angelica are beautiful, I think the glitz would ruin your natural look.)

I love that studio McGee coffee table! I was actually just looking at it

I missed - you bought a patterned rug?

No i didn’t! Kjoy edited it on my layout! It looks good though!

Oh ok... just my thought that all same legs, light wood, and straight- looks like Ikea showroom. You mentioned bland earlier - I mention cause can be bland even with accessories.

My friend is buying my credenza from me tomorrow so i get to buy a new one! Which one do we like better? The top one is slightly more expensive. I can’t decide which tones would work better

One vibe is more warm toned and the other is more cool
