How Can Pumice Sand Be Used in Cultivation?

After filtering pumice that I am buying with a mesh #12 (about 1.68 mm particle size or smaller gets through), I get a significant amount of pumice sand. Is pumice sand usable for any horticultural applications?

I was thinking that it might be interesting to add it on top of the compost, as an additional water retention layer. It would be better to mix it in with the compost, but I cannot easily do that so I would just sprinkle it on top and let it mix in over time.

I am guessing that this might also be useful for the cultivation of seeds / succulent leaves?

Could this be used as a soil amendment in a raised bed? In what kind of soil?

I am guessing you could make a pretty good base rock by mixing this with larger crushed granite, but that is probably more work than I want to do.
