How big is the door? There won't be a ton of light coming through, but most homes have the screened porch added after the fact so there is usually a window in there. You probably just don't want a bunch of dead wall space.

I'm not an expert. I don't see the need for windows unless you want the ventilation. I have a three season room and have one window that connects to the kitchen. The window is nice for a food pass thru. Otherwise it isn't necessary.

I would need a lot more info so at least post a floor plan and also a bit about your style and also the reason for the porch since I often find they really cut the amount of natural light coming into a house.

Here is the floor plan that shows glass door + panel on left from great room leading into the side of the porch. The windows we are thinking of removing from the plan are the ones in the alcove and guest bath. The house will be in the woods so I would say our style is modern rustic. This is the back side of the house facing an open grassy area with the fire pit and woods beyond that. We want the screened in porch so people can still enjoy the outside and action going on in the backyard without the bugs. Does this help?

Your are right - many screened porches have windows because the windows were there first and the screened porch was added later. I don't see any reason not to include windows as long as you can place furniture adjacent to them. If you want windows and the light they would provide you could also consider transom windows.
